So I was lucky enough to be on time to enter my address for a free sample of Chanel’s newest mascara Le Volume De Chanel and it came in the mail this morning so this is more of a first impressions review. I know I did a mascara post very recently but I had to do one on this seeing as it’s new.
It came in a very generous size box which was very over the top and a little deceiving considering the sample is only small, but I didn’t expect anything less from Chanel and I loved how fancy it was for a freebie. My first impressions when applying this mascara were extremely positive, I was impressed with the brush and how it fanned out my lashes and seem to make them look longer; however, considering ‘volume’ is a key word in the name of this product, I was expecting it to make my lashes bolder with more volume but I really didn’t achieve that, in fact I think it made my lashes look more thinned out. I would take length over volume and I really like the mascara but if you want that extra volume and blackness, this might not be the one for you. I have added Maybelline ‘the rocket’ mascara over the top since the photo above so I have length and volume and they do an amazing job together so overall I’m a happy chappy.
As for the long-wear and staying power of this mascara, I only applied it at around 10am this morning so I can’t say it lasts forever but so far so good. I have no smudges under my eyes and I did apply this to my bottom lashes too, it’s not drooped (my drooped, I mean my lashes are still lively and flared) and I have a feeling it will stay this way until I remove it.

Happy Friday everyone :)

Challenge time! What I would buy if I was given £4000

20130523-162246.jpg
It’s not technically a ‘challenge’ but I gave myself a little dreamy scenario where someone gave me £4000 to spend purely on beauty and fashion outfits and I’m not allowed to spend a penny over. These are the items I would purchase and I managed to spend a grand total of £3797, let’s pretend I saved the rest.
I’d LOVE it if any of you guys did this, it was very fun but now I’m left depressed without the things I want. If you’re not from the UK give yourself the equivalent to £4000. I’d love to see what you guys would spend that amount of free money on.

So here is my list, the prices are so random because most of them were in US dollars and I had to convert them to pounds.
Kate Spade watch £116
Marc Jacobs Daisy (a large bottle) £52
Celine bag £1213
Topshop playsuit £46
Louboutin spike flat shoes £860
Disney couture bracelet £28
Celine t-shirt £13
Armani Luminous Silk foundation £35
Marc Jacobs phone bunny phone case £40
Kate spade sunglasses £92
Chanel face powder £31
Tom ford lipstick £36
YSL Cassandra clutch £680
OPI Minnie Mouse mini collection £25
Marc Jacobs nude patent heels £355
Marc Jacobs neon bag £175

I tag you all to do it! :)

M.A.C Pigment In ‘Tan’

20130520-210423.jpg
I’ve just discovered a new favourite eye product from MAC, it’s the loose pigment pot in ‘Tan’ which has been mentioned quite a few times in the blogosphere. This pigment is highly pigmented and you need the tiniest amount to make a huge, huge colour pop, which brings me to just how much product you get for £16, the pot is little but this baby will probably last me several years even if I used it everyday. Literally several years, if that’s even hygienic. The colour is gorgeous, it’s a coppery and shimmery brown with golden hint which would flatter any eye colour – it’s all I used in the photo and I used a minuscule amount so you can see how far it goes.
The downside of these pigments is the messiness, I’m always absolutely terrified of opening this pot; I don’t even want to breathe around it incase I blow some of the feather light powder all over the place. This is pretty much standard for any powder products cooped up on a tub or pot – I wouldn’t take it with you in a suitcase, that’s all I’m saying.
If you want a really nice smooth and shimmery flattering brown colour then this is your friend.
Happy Monday…yuck! Xxx

Mascara Obsession

20130519-185221.jpg
I love experimenting with mascara, whether it’s high-end or low-end you can always find that mascara that wows you and brings out your lashes as soon as you apply it. If I’m honest though, all mascaras tend to satisfy me providing they don’t give me a serious case of thick, clumpy spider lashes. However, there are a few that go above and beyond just making your lashes look good and genuinely make them look longer and fuller; when I find that kind of mascara, it will forever be in my list of trusty mascaras.
I’ve pretty much tried all of the majorly raved about mascaras and many others but these are the ones currently in my collection. I don’t dislike any of them but I do have pros and cons for each one and thought I’d do a mini review post.

I won’t go into much detail about this one because I recently reviewed it in an empties post. It’s completely dried out and unusable now so it’s ready for the bin but still remains in my drawer. It’s the Rimmel Max Bold Curves Mascara and I didn’t have very high expectations of it before I tried it – I was actually quite impressed, it has a curved spoon wand which I love. The mascara formulation is nice, it adds thickness and length but it dries out quickly and there are better mascaras out there. It retails at around £7.00
I’d rate this mascara a 6/10

The YSL Shocking Mascara is the newest addition to my collection, I love the sleek gold packaging which is similar to the famous Touché Éclat highlighter by YSL. I was extremely impressed when I applied this mascara, my lashes were very bold and ‘shocking’ but I hate the brush, it’s small, plain and gets a lot of mascara clumped up in the bristles. It retails at around £23.00.
I’d rate this a 7/10

This mascara by Chanel is the Sublime De Chanel Mascara which retails at around £24.00. When I first bought this mascara I couldn’t get enough of it, it had the whole package and made my lashes fuller and longer. My favourite thing about this mascara is the wand, it’s like a little comb with sharp, small bristles which really separate your lashes and brushes through them. The price of this mascara makes this not quite a 10.
I’d rate this mascara a 9/10

I have done a review on this Maybelline The Rocket Mascara along side it’s sister mascara ‘The Falsies’. I did love it on it’s own but I’ve since gone off it, it’s amazing paired with The Falsies but on it’s own, I don’t get what I want from a mascara, I get lovely bold voluminous lashes but I find it sticks them together a little and doesn’t give me much length at all. It retails at around £6.99.
I’d rate this mascara a 6/10

I LOVE this mascara, it’s Maybelline The Falsies and it’s hands down my favourite. The wand is similar to Rimmel’s Max Bold Curves but it’s longer and thinner. The spoon-like wand really lifts the lashes and curls them nicely whilst adding length, separating the lashes and giving a little volume; it doesn’t give amazing volume but enough to be satisfied with. It retails at around £6.99
I rate this mascara a big fat 10/10.

I do love the volume and blackness that Diorshow Blackout Mascara gives me but it clumps my lashes together and dries out quickly in my opinion. It retails at around £23.00
I’d rate this mascara a 6/10

Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara is so highly raved about and when I received a small sample size of it in my Elle magazine I was extremely pleased. I can understand the hype because it really does make your lashes look like falsies; it adds length, volume and amazing separation, plus the little spiky ball at the end of the wand helps to get right into the root. I really like it but I’ve never known anything as difficult to remove before be than this, it’s good that this means no smudging or budging but it means longer trying to force it off my lashes and more rubbing my eyes and it also tends to make my lashes ‘crispy’.
I’d rate this mascara an 8/10

Summer Inspiration Board

20130517-221247.jpg
I’ve spent my Friday night sitting in my favourite pyjamas, listening to Weezer ‘Island In The Sun’ and creating a little collage full of pretty summery photos to get me to a happy place. That makes me sound majorly depressed but I just need to be reminded that I’m going to Morocco in July and I need to get a suitcase full of stuff to die for. The weather here is depressing so all I need to do now is look at my collage and feel like I’m in the Caribbean…kind of.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend xxx
